Snorkelling bays and coral divingRed Sea diving tripWhile looking for idyllic Red Sea towns, far away from mass tourism, we discovered Hassan's small dive camp just outside of the fishing village, El Quseir. There's one word that sums up this place.... rustic. Everything here is made of palm trees, palm tree leaves and drift wood. Don't expect too much in terms of luxury or comfort, but there's an abundance of friendly hospitality, great food, a private beach with reed beach chairs and a pristine coral reef filled with the most colourful coral and fish right in front of your door. Both experienced an inexperienced divers and snorkelling enthusiasts will delight in this intriguing underwater paradise at one of the best diving spots in the world. |

Day 1: Arrival at diving camp near El Quseir There are two ways to reach El Quseir - by plane from Cairo, Luxor or Aswan or by road. If you arrive by air, you'll fly into Hurghada where a transfer will be waiting to take you on the 1-hour drive to the dive camp. Another option is to take a 3-hour drive (private transport) from Luxor through the rock desert. El Quseir is a sleepy fishing village where nothing much ever seems to happen. We selected this area specifically for your Red Sea diving trip because of Hassan's dive camp, which is located approximately 10km from El Quseir.Hassan is a friendly Egyptian man with a big heart who speaks English very well and is very passionate about Red Sea diving. He personally created this entire camp from palm tree leaves and drift wood. It's a very modest, almost backpacker type of camp and has a private beach with coral reef and many diving and snorkelling opportunities. Don't expect the comfort or luxury you would get in the large hotels a few kilometres down the road. However, if you would prefer more luxurious accommodation, have a look at the bottom of the page for this option. |

Day 2: El Quseir - Snorkelling or divingWake up this morning at a leisurely pace or even go for a refreshing dive before you begin the second day of your Red Sea diving trip. After breakfast and a fresh cup of hot coffee beneath a palm tree canopy, Hassan will be available to talk through your plans for the next few days. This Red Sea diving trip includes half a day of snorkelling at one of the coral reefs nearby. It's up to you when you want to do this, either today or tomorrow. If you have diving experience, you can hire equipment from Hassan and he'll take you to some of the most beautiful diving spots in the area. If you've never been diving before, but would like to try, you can take an introductory dive. It costs approximately £36, including the hire of diving equipment. A second dive will cost you an extra £9. But if diving isn't your thing and you'd rather stick to snorkelling, Hassan will show you the best places to explore the magical marine life.If there are enough people at camp, Hassan will set up a campfire beneath the stars and the kitchen staff will play music till deep in the night. |
Day 3: Dive camp - El QuseirDay 3 of your Red Sea diving trip is completely free for you to do as you like. Relax on the private beach on one of the reed beach chairs or snooze beneath one of the palm tree shadow huts. Hassan has snorkels and flippers for hire if you would like to explore the colourful coral reef right in front of the camp. If you would prefer more action and adventure, you can hire quads for a drive through the dunes (approximately £27) or trek through the desert valley behind the dive camp. |

Day 4: Departure from El QuseirToday your Red Sea diving trip ends. You are also welcome to extend your stay here by one or more days. However, most of our travellers would agree that 3 nights is enough. You'll fly home from Hurghada via Cairo or you can continue travelling to the beautiful beaches in Dahab. Alternatively, you can travel straight through the Sinai desert on our Egypt desert safari. |
